When writing out the names of buildings, avoid abbreviations. If a building name is long and has an often-used abbreviation, spell out the full name on the first mention and provide an abbreviation in parenthesis. Abbreviations may be used for subsequent mentions.
First Mention | Subsequent Mentions |
---|---|
"Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts" | "Misciagna Center" or "the Center" |
"Altoona LaunchBox supported by the Hite family" | "Altoona LaunchBox" or "the LaunchBox" |
Quick Tips
The “Sheetz Family Health Center” is the name of the building. The “Health and Wellness Center” is the name of the office. The two terms should not be used interchangeably.
When referring to spaces, list the room number first and then the building name.
- "The meeting will take place in rooms 101–103 of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts."
