COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Penn State Altoona men’s and women’s swimming teams were each recognized for their academic success during the fall 2019 semester on Jan. 29, when the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released its Fall Scholar All-America Teams list.
The CSCAA has selected a record 762 programs from 480 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the fall 2019 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their fall 2019 grade point averages and represent a total of 17,685 individual student-athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as the NAIA.
The Penn State Altoona women’s swimming team posted a 3.42 team GPA during fall 2019 to earn a spot on the Division III Women’s Fall Scholar All-America list, while the Lions' men’s team combined for a GPA of 3.01 to clinch a place among the Division III Men’s Fall Scholar All-America teams.
“Very proud of our men and women for being announced today as Scholar All-America teams,” said Penn State Altoona men’s and women’s swimming head coach Brad Brooks. “It’s a great honor to be recognized with all of the work that they put in, both in the pool and in the classroom. We look forward to continuing to get better as student-athletes.”
The Penn State Altoona men’s and women’s swimming teams return to the pool for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, which will be held at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, New York, on Feb 19-22.
