NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona women’s swimming sophomore Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) was officially awarded All-Conference status in three events, when the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released its postseason awards on February 20, 2019.
Bye received first team All-AMCC recognition in the 100 Yard Butterfly, and she also earned spots on the All-Conference second team for the 200 Yard IM and the 100 Yard Freestyle.
The All-Conference team is determined by swimmers’ finishes in the events during last week’s AMCC Championships. First place finishers receive first team All-AMCC nods, while the runners-up get second team.
Bye placed first in the 100 Yard Butterfly during last Friday’s finals session in the AMCC Championships. She finished with a time of 59.52, setting a new school record for the fastest time in that event. The previous record was her own, a time of 1:00.69 that Bye had achieved during the 2018 AMCC Championships.
Bye took a second place finish in the 200 Yard IM in last Thursday’s finals, clocking in at 2:16.40. That time marked another Penn State Altoona women’s swimming record, with Bye again breaking her own record of 2:18.92 that was set during the previous year’s conference championships.
In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Bye was the runner-up during Saturday’s finals by finishing in 55.76. The sophomore came close to setting her third school record of the week, coming just 0.72 seconds shy of the current record of 55.04.
Penn State Altoona women’s swimming finished its season with a fourth place finish in the AMCC Championships, which were held February 13-16 at Penn State Behrend. The Lady Lions accumulated a four-day point total of 170.
