Cathleen Dillen, instructor in nursing, and Alessia Zanin-Yost, associate librarian, reference and instruction librarian, presented at the recent annual West Virginia Library Association's conference.
The presentation, "Students and Research Needs: When small changes do make a difference," illustrated how decreasing anxiety and stress related to research can promote self-efficacy in students and contribute to their academic success. Qualitative data from 105 students indicate that small changes can make a difference on how students approach the research process. The case study started as an investigation on how nursing students approached the research process, but later incorporated solutions to diminish intrinsic factors that can contribute negatively to academic performance.
