In the Lions’ home games against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opponents Medaille and Mount Aloysius on Sunday, April 2, and Tuesday, April 4, freshman shortstop Hunter Breon (Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania/Boiling Springs) combined to hit .571 (8-for-14) with four doubles and two home runs. He drove in six runs and scored five runs.

In the men’s tennis team’s wins over AMCC opponents Pitt-Bradford and Pitt-Greensburg last week, freshman Tao Yang (Emporium, Pennsylvania/Cameron County) combined to go 2-0 in No. 6 singles, providing the winning point for the Lions in each match.

With Penn State Altoona’s wins over North Eastern Athletic Conference opponents Lancaster Bible and Wilson on Saturday, April 1, the Lions clinched the regular season title for the NEAC. Penn State Altoona earns the top seed in the upcoming NEAC playoff tournament and will host the semifinal and championship matches at the campus’ Adler Gym on Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15.

When the Lady Lions defeated Pitt-Bradford in game one of the Sunday, April 2 doubleheader at Stewart Athletic Field, senior pitcher Kate Burge (Philipsburg, Pennsylvania/Philipsburg-Osceola) moved into first place on the program’s all-time wins list. Burge currently sits atop the list with 51 wins in her four-year career with Penn State Altoona.
