By going 8-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference this season, the Lions volleyball team sealed its first-ever AMCC title.
ALTOONA, Pa. — With a trio of wins on Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, the Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball team clinched its first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship by posting a perfect 8-0 record against their AMCC opponents this season. In the Lions’ primary conference, the North Eastern Athletic Conference, the team is 13-1 and holding sole possession of first place in the standings.

Penn State Altoona senior starting pitcher Jared Dailey (Boalsburg, Pennsylvania/State College) is tied for second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in wins (three), and freshman relief pitcher Hunter Breon (Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania/Boiling Springs) leads the conference in saves (three).

In the Beren Tennis Invitational at Marietta College on March 24-25, the Penn State Altoona men’s tennis team went 2-1 to win the back draw of the tournament. During his team’s three matches in the invitational, sophomore Carlos Cevallos (Palisades Park, New Jersey/Palisades Park) went 3-0 in No. 5 singles and 2-1 in No. 3 doubles.

Lions sophomore outside hitter Bradley Colditz (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania/Upper St. Clair) earned Player of the Week awards from the AMCC, the NEAC, and the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s Division III South Region for his performance in his team’s wins over Wells, SUNY Polytechnicm and Keuka on Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 19. Additionally, he set the program’s single match record for kills in the Lions’ loss at Thiel College on Tuesday, March 28, when he racked up a career-high 25 kills.

Lady Lions senior pitcher Kate Burge (Philipsburg, Pennsylvania/Philipsburg-Osceola) has set several new softball program records in the first weeks of the 2017 regular season. Those records include becoming Penn State Altoona’s all-time innings pitched leader with 473 2/3 career innings thrown to date, as well as the team’s all-time shutouts leader with 13 career shutouts pitched to date.
