During the team's annual spring break journey to Florida to compete in the Central Florida RussMatt Invitational from March 4 to 11, the Lions posted a 6-4 record to return with a winning record during the invitational for the first time since 2011. Freshman left-handed pitcher Oliver Dailey (Boalsburg, Pennsylvania/State College) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s Division III South Region Rookie of the Week after pitching six scoreless innings and getting the win in Penn State Altoona’s 7-4 victory over Cazenovia on Friday, March 10, in Auburndale, Florida.
Men’s basketball:
Medaille College 91, Penn State Altoona 77
Bethany College 82, Penn State Altoona 57
The Lions were defeated 91-77 by Medaille in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinal round on Saturday, Feb. 25. The team earned a berth into the ECAC Division III Tournament but fell 82-57 at Bethany on Wednesday, March 1. Senior guard/forward Javon Wilson was voted first team All-AMCC and second team All-ECAC.

Lions junior Thomas Graden (Hummelstown, Pennsylvania/Lower Dauphin) was picked as the AMCC’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 27, for his performance the previous week against Geneva and Saint Vincent. Graden won both of his No. 4 singles matches and one of his No. 2 doubles matches.

Penn State Altoona freshman outside/opposite hitter Brandon Arentz (Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania/Northeastern) was selected the AMCC Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 27, after averaging 3.17 kills per set and 3.17 digs per set the previous week. On Monday, March 6, Lions sophomore outside hitter Bradley Colditz (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania/Upper St. Clair) was picked as the AMCC Player of the Week after averaging 4.60 kills per set and 1.20 digs per set the previous week.

The Lady Lions opened their season in Florida, competing for the first time in the Central Florida Rebel Spring Games based in Kissimmee. The team posted a 4-8 record while facing strong competition from a variety of NCAA Division III softball teams from around the country.
