Penn State Altoona freshman Brayley Lewis was named the ECAC's Division III Women's Tennis Rookie of the Month for September after going 6-3 in singles matches and 5-4 in doubles matches during the month.

Men’s Golf

First place in the Penn State Behrend James Bowen Invitational

The Lions’ first-place finish in the Behrend Invitational was the first time in the program’s 16-year history that it won the event. Senior Matt Dillon (Roaring Spring, PA/Central) shot a season-best 76 to place second out of 51 individual men’s golfers on the day.

Freshman defender Jacob Weaver (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) scored a goal in each of the Lions’ games last week to help his team notch two more Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victories.

 

Women’s Golf

Individual first place finish in the Penn State Behrend James Bowen Invitational

Freshman Claudia Ochoa (Fairfax, VA/Robinson Secondary) shot 95 to win the Behrend Invitational, the first event that she has won in her collegiate golf career.

Hilbert College 3, Penn State Altoona 2

Mount Aloysius College 2, Penn State Altoona 1 (2 OT)

Sophomore midfielder/defender Alyssa Piffer (Reading, PA/Exeter) and freshman defender Kayla Gardner (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock Township) each scored their first career goals for the Lady Lions in a pair of tough AMCC losses.

 

Women’s Tennis

La Roche College 5, Penn State Altoona 4

Freshman Brayley Lewis (Roaring Spring, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s Division III Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Month for September. Lewis went 6-3 in singles matches and 5-4 in doubles matches during the month to become the first player in Penn State Altoona women’s tennis program history to garner the ECAC Rookie of the Month recognition.

Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy) led the Lady Lions with 32 kills (4.57 kills per set) in two AMCC wins last week. Freshman setter Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) put up a team-high 88 set assists (12.5 assists per set), senior libero Emily Baker (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) had 54 digs (7.71 digs per set), and freshman outside hitter Lauren Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) posted seven total blocks.
