NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona women’s soccer’s junior midfielder Kierra Irwin (Altoona, Pennsylvania/Altoona) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30.
Irwin was key to the Lady Lions’ attack in a pair of games last week.
In a 2-1 loss at home to non-conference opponent Washington & Jefferson College last Tuesday night, Irwin recorded an assist while posting game-highs with three shots on goal and six total shot attempts. In her team’s 6-4 victory at AMCC opponent Alfred State College on Saturday afternoon, Irwin notched her first collegiate hat trick by scoring three goals. She also added one assist in that game, and she led all players with five shots on goal and six total shot attempts.
On the week, Irwin totaled three goals and two assists for a total of eight points, and she attempted 12 shots, putting eight of them on goal.
This is Irwin’s first career AMCC Player of the Week award. In the conference this season, she currently ranks fourth in assists (3), seventh in points (9) and shots (25), and ninth in goals (3).
Penn State Altoona women’s soccer is 3-5-1 overall, including a 1-1 mark in the AMCC. The Lady Lions return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 1, when the team hosts AMCC opponent Franciscan University at 8:15 p.m.
