Tanner Yaw Named AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona junior Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) was chosen as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019.

Yaw totaled five individual first places for the Lions last week, helping his team win a pair of dual meets against non-conference opponents Wells College and Gallaudet University.

In Tuesday afternoon’s victory at Wells, Yaw grabbed first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:37.59, and he won the 100 Yard Breaststroke by finishing in 1:11.74. In Friday night’s win at Gallaudet, Yaw took first place in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:09.91, prevailed in the 100 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 55.79, and won the 100 Yard Butterfly by posting a time of 57.21.

This is Yaw’s first career AMCC Swimmer of the Week award.

Penn State Altoona men’s swimming travels to face AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend this Saturday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lions’ final meet of the regular season.
