Health Services

COVID-19 Testing

Walk-up COVID-19 testing is available on the following days and times:

  • Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday from noon–4:00 p.m., weather-dependent.

Students must pre-register through MyQuest.

  1. Register with MyQuest at http://www.pennstatetesting.com/al.
    1. When registering, be sure to use the first part of your Penn State email address as your Penn State User ID (e.g., abc1234).
    2. Students covered by insurance will enter their insurance provider's name and insurance member ID. Penn State will cover all costs not covered by insurance. Students not currently covered by insurance should enter "no insurance" in the insurance provider field and "000" in the member ID fields. Penn State will cover all testing costs for uninsured students.
  2. Visit the Sheetz Family Health Center during testing hours to complete your test.

If you have already been tested at the Health and Wellness Center, you will need to re-register with MyQuest.

Medical and Telehealth Services

Until further notice, Penn State Altoona’s Health and Wellness Center is open for scheduled medical appointments only on the following days and times:

  • Monday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday from 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Friday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Walk-in appointments are not being accepted at this time. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Center at 814-949-5540.

Telehealth services are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Center at 814-949-5540.

Tele-mental Health Services

Tele-mental Health Services are available from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. through February. Beginning in March, the Center will offer evening telehealth appointments on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Center at 814-949-5540. Students already engaged with services will continue to meet with their provider as scheduled and may contact their providers via secure messaging through the student online portal.

Crisis/emergency and after-hours mental health concerns are advised to call the Penn State Crisis Line at 877-229-6400.

Emergencies and After Hours Care

Health Services has a responsibility to assure that quality health and medical services are available at the Center during hours of operation and adequate services are accessible to students 24 hours a day through community resources.

In case of an emergency call campus police at 814-949-5222 or 911. The Penn State Altoona campus police officers are trained first responders on campus and will assist with crisis or medical emergency needs.

UHS Nurse Advice Line

University Health Services (UHS) provide a 24/7 Nurse Advice Line, available by calling 814-863-4463.

If the Health and Wellness Center is closed and you need immediate medical attention, you can visit any of the following care centers:
