Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, was a featured speaker for the University of Wah in Pakistan's Lecture Series of Foreign English Professors webinar. Her poem, "The Year of Insanity: to 2017," was nominated for a Best of the Net Award.
In a move designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 on Penn State campuses, the union representing about 2,600 technical service employees, has agreed to follow University requirements for mask-wearing, regardless of vaccination status. The agreement goes into effect immediately.
Trained students will serve as peer advocates to offer a supportive listening environment with drop-in hours. Students can attend to discuss concerns about stress, relationships, the future, courses, feelings of being overwhelmed, or just to talk.
As part of Penn State's COVID-19 mitigation plans, COVID-19 tests will be required for all students moving into on-campus residential housing who have not shared with the University that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provided a positive COVID-19 test result from the last 90 days prior to arrival.
Penn State Altoona will host a Performing Arts Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 25. Attendees will learn about auditions for performing arts groups on campus and meet other students and faculty involved.
