Academic Options

Stay at Penn State Altoona to complete one of our four-year degree programs, such as business, accounting, mechanical engineering, rail transportation engineering, and electromechanical engineering technology, among others. - Penn State Undergraduate Bulletin
You can apply to the 2+2 plan, meaning you’ll spend your first two years at Altoona and then transition to University Park to finish your degree. Visit the University Bulletin to explore Penn State’s 275+ majors, including suggested academic plans and entrance to major requirements. Almost all of Penn State’s majors can be started at Altoona.
Student Support
You’ll find support at Penn State Altoona to help you succeed. Our Student Success Center offers professional and peer tutoring, assistance with writing though the Writing Commons, academic advising, and more.
The Center is available for our students to GET HELP when they need academic and nonacademic assistance and to GET AHEAD when they are ready to take the next steps in their education.
Global Programs
Our Global Programs staff will work with you through the immigration process as you prepare to travel to the United States. Upon your arrival at Penn State Altoona, you’ll participate in International Student Orientation and have access to support services, intercultural celebrations and activities, field trips to other cities, and more.
Research and Engagement
Many of our students are engaged with faculty in undergraduate research as early as their first year. Funding exists to support students in their research.
Students engaged in Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry have traveled to conferences and networking events and have had their work published in professional journals.
Career Services
Career Services supports students in all areas related to career development and preparation. We assist students with resume writing, internships and job search strategies, and preparation for graduate school.
