- Environmental Studies: Penn State Altoona's Environmental Studies program is the only program of its kind in the Penn State system. The program offers a Bachelor of Arts option, preparing students for graduate studies or careers with government and non-profit agencies, consulting firms, outdoor adventure, sustainability, etc.; and a Bachelor of Science option, preparing students for graduate studies or careers in environmental science, earth science, geology, and physical geography.
Penn State Altoona offers opportunities for students to pursue graduate degrees through Integrated Undergraduate-Graduate (IUG) programs and accelerated placement programs. These programs combine a bachelor's degree with an advanced degree as a continuous program of study.

Offered through Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State Altoona is home to Associate Degree programs in Forest Technology and Wildlife Technology, the only programs of their kind in the Penn State system.
NOTE: Beginning in fall 2026, new students enrolling in forest technology will start at Mont Alto and students in wildlife technology will start at DuBois before transitioning to Altoona for their second year in 2027-28. Beginning in fall 2027, all incoming students will complete the entirety of the program at Altoona.

Penn State Altoona is the home to minor programs in Dance Studies and Vocal Studies, the only programs of their kind in the Penn State system.
