Six members of the Penn State Altoona men’s golf program were voted to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s All-Conference team, the league office announced on Friday, Oct. 25.
Headlining the awards were head coach Tom Koehle, who was voted the AMCC Coach of the Year, and Peter Nusbaum of Pittsboro, NC, who was chosen as the conference’s Golfer of the Year. Meanwhile, Nusbaum and Nicky Riscica, of Newtown, were both first-team All-AMCC selections, Andrew Bruce, of Moon Township, and Joey Sabol, of State College, were voted to the second team, and Nicholas Helsley, of Altoona, was a third-team pick.
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Four Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball student-athletes were recognized by the College Sports Communicators for their success in the classroom as the CSC announced its 2024 NCAA Division III Academic All-District women’s volleyball team on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
To be eligible for a spot on the Academic All-District team, student-athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student-athletes must be at least sophomores while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Athletically, players must be starters or key reserves who have played in at least 90 percent of their team's matches, or started 66% of the matches. Nominators could submit up to four qualified student-athletes per team.
The four Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball student-athletes named to the CSC’s NCAA Division III Academic All-District team are:
- -LiberoAnna Batrus, of Altoona, majoring in business management and marketing
- Middle blocker Taylor Myers, of Morrisdale, majoring in nursing
- Middle blocker Makenna Port, Bellefonte, majoring in elementary and early childhood education
- Outside hitter Lia Simanski, of Altoona, majoring in business
