
Penn State Altoona Athletics announced on Wednesday, July 12, the addition of men’s and women’s wrestling to its NCAA Division III varsity sport offerings. The two teams will begin intercollegiate competition in 2024-25, and a head coaching position will be filled by the start of 2024. Penn State Altoona’s total of NCAA Division III teams will rise to 16 after the additions.
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Postseason academic recognition continued to roll in on June 17 when four Penn State Altoona student-athletes earned places in the College Sports Communicators’ At-Large category of its NCAA Division III All-District honors.
To be eligible for a spot on an Academic All-District team, student-athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student-athletes must be at least sophomores while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. For golfers, nominees must have been in the lineup for at least 70% of their squad’s team scoring events, or in the lineup at the conference championship tournament. For volleyball, nominees must have competed in at least 90% of their team’s matches, or started in at least two-thirds of the matches.
In the CSC’s NCAA Division III Academic All-District At-Large category, Penn State Altoona saw two men’s golfers, one women’s golfer and one men’s volleyball player pick up the recognition:
Men’s golf:
- Daniel Batrus, of Altoona, majoring in business
- Nicky Riscica, of Newtown, majoring in business
Women’s golf:
- Isabelle Forcey, of Clearfield, majoring in elementary and early childhood education
Men’s volleyball:
- Landen Fisher, of Altoona, majoring in mechanical engineering
