Brian Black, distinguished professor of history and environmental studies, was recently an invited speaker at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC) in Munich, Germany, at the conference “Transitions in Energy Landscapes and Everyday Life in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries.” From his current research and writing, Black presented the paper “Pumping Up American Transportation: Filling Stations and American Energy Dependence, 1880-present.”
The RCC is an international, interdisciplinary center for research and education in the environmental humanities and social sciences.
