Jared Frederick, instructor in history, is 1 of 25 competition winners selected to guest host on the Turner Classic Movies channel.
To celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary, TCM held a Fan Dedication Contest in which participants created a video of themselves dedicating a favorite Turner Classic movie. Frederick chose Gettysburg.
"I have a longstanding appreciation of classic film. Gettysburg truly sparked my interest in history, however, and I owe it a lot for having set me on my career path. Had I not seen that movie 25 years ago, I doubt I would be teaching history at the collegiate level today."
Selected from more than 800 contestants, Frederick flew to Turner Studios in Atlanta in January to tape his segment, which will air April 16 at 9:45 p.m.
