ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona sophomore shortstop Hunter Breon (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week in baseball on Monday.

Breon had a huge week at the plate for the Lions last week, helping his team go 6-0 – including notching a pair of AMCC doubleheader sweeps.

In last Monday’s doubleheader sweep at non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College, Breon combined to hit 3-for-8 in the two games with four runs scored, two runs batted in, and one double. In Thursday’s pair of victories at AMCC opponent Mount Aloysius College, the sophomore batted 6-for-8 with four runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, one triple, one walk, and one stolen base. In Saturday’s sweep at AMCC foe Medaille College, Breon combined to go 5-for-7 with five runs scored, five RBI, two doubles, and two walks.

For the week, Breon hit .609 (14-for-23) for the Lions with 13 runs scored, 10 RBI, five doubles, one triple, three walks, and one stolen base.

This is Breon’s first career AMCC Player of the Week award. The sophomore was named the conference’s Pitcher of the Week earlier this season.

Penn State Altoona baseball, which is 14-17 overall and 9-7 in the conference, closes out its regular season schedule this Friday, May 4 with a doubleheader at AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford. The start time of game one is 1:00 p.m. at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
