Nominated by the college community and selected by an awards committee, several faculty and staff members received awards unique to Penn State Altoona. Retirees and those with up to 45 years of service also were recognized.
The awards recognize students who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in the areas of academics, campus involvement and leadership. The awards also recognize faculty, staff and student organizations for excellence in and outside the classroom.
A new research program for students will be launched this coming fall: The Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses Undergraduate Student Research Fund aims to support student-led projects in different fields. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in research, scholarship, and artistic efforts. They will be responsible for creating their own research problems, study proposals, methodologies, and presenting their findings.
