Bear Paw Hand Cleaner
The project included the complete automation of an abrasive soap production process. Through the use of progressive cavity pumps, electric motors, linear actuators, and a programmable logic controller, the system was capable of producing soap without any operator intervention. The system can be manipulated for variable batch sizes from 20lbs up to 200lbs all while meeting company product specifications.
Coffee Dryer
Rotating drum used to screen coffee grinds out of a mixture of grinds and filters. Uses a 1/2hp motor to sift grinds in a 2.5ft drum with 1.5in holes.
Coffee Screen
This project entails the design and fabrication of a device that is going to be used as a coffee screen. It consists of a perforated rotating drum that separates disposed coffee grounds from their filters.
Golf Ball Washer
The golf ball washer project was designed and created to solve the issues witnessed first hand with the ball washers on the market. This project aims to solve issues like operator fatigue as well as increased quality of the end-product.
Mini Baha Drive Train
The mini baja enhancement team seeks to modify and strengthen existing components as well as introduce a completely open-source ECU for post-drive analytics, GPS, and real-time operator input data. All towards the mutual, communal goal of sustainability, reliability for the Baja SAE team on Penn State Altoona’s branch campus.
Mini Baha Suspension
For our project we took on the redesign of the baja sae steering and suspension subsystems. We redesigned the steering knuckles and the steering housing along with heat treating and redesigning the spindle for the hubs.
Pumpkin Trebuchet
The Trebuchet is a medieval siege weapon which in this project was modernized with materials to increase the structure, reduce friction, and automate the loading and firing processes.
Remote Wheel Chair
The Independence is a remote-controlled wheelchair system that allows a user to drive their chair in their car or home to a secure location via a controller with a built-in screen and communication to the chair. The chair is compatible with a latching system that can be mounted on a wheelchair ramp to secure the chair for transport.
Sign Trimming
Only part of the completed project is shown above. The digital rendering shows how it will look when installed at the Blair Companies facility. The band saw was not able to be photographed next to the table because of its size and prior placement.
UV Test Machine
The UV Testing Machine is meant to define an industry-standard test platform. Which its main purpose is to correlate weeks in the chamber to years in the real world. It's meant to test samples of painted sheet metal, polycarbonate sheets, digital printed sheet materials, and wire and electronics.
