ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona Athletics, in coordination with the Penn State Altoona Advisory Board, is launching the Varsity A Golf Tournament on Friday, Aug. 1, at Sinking Valley Country Club, home of the campus' golf programs. The tournament registration begins at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. PennView Suites will be the presenting sponsor for the inaugural event.
Golfers can enjoy a round of golf, a tournament tee-gift, light breakfast, lunch and beverages while networking and sharing a day on the course with athletics staff, alumni, community members and college supporters.
The Varsity A Club was launched in late June to support Penn State Altoona Athletics, its teams and programs that support the nearly 300 student-athletes that participate in varsity athletics.
“The Varsity A Club Golf Tournament will be the first of many networking events designed to engage the community in a fun and relaxing way,” said Director of Athletics Brent Baird. “We hope to not only see our local business community out participating, but also our alumni and friends who are looking to reconnect with Penn State Altoona Athletics.”
Sponsors and golfers will be recognized based on their level of support. Sponsorships for the tournament will be accepted through July 25 and golfer registration will be accepted through July 30.
