GREENWOOD, Ind. — Penn State Altoona baseball’s middle infielder Alex Hlivia, of Pennsylvania Furnace, was named to the College Sports Communicators’ NCAA Division III Academic All-District team for the third consecutive year, when the organization released its academic awards on Tuesday, June 3.

To be eligible for a spot on an Academic All-District baseball team, student-athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student-athletes must be at least sophomores while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Athletically, players must be starters or key reserves who have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games, or started two thirds of the games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. Nominators could submit up to four qualified student-athletes per team.

Hlivia, who graduated from Penn State Altoona in May with a degree in kinesiology, started 36 games for the Lions during the 2025 season. He hit .286 while ranking 10th in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in stolen bases (10), 18th in walks (17), 26th in on-base percentage (.411), and 34th in runs scored (26). With the glove, Hlivia helped turn the sixth-most double plays (14) and recorded the 10th-most assists (65) of any fielder in the conference.

Penn State Altoona baseball was 14-24-1 overall this past season, including going 4-10 in the AMCC.
