Penn State Altoona to offer printmaking workshop July 12

Penn State Altoona will offer a printmaking workshop from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 in room 117 of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts

Participants will learn how to carve an image inspired by fireflies onto linoleum and use ink to print it onto paper. The firefly is the official insect of Pennsylvania. Also known as lightning bugs, they appear between the months of June and August.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will offer a printmaking workshop from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, in room 117 of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.

Participants will learn how to carve an image inspired by fireflies onto linoleum and use ink to print it onto paper. The firefly is the official insect of Pennsylvania. Also known as lightning bugs, they appear between the months of June and August.

At the end of this workshop, attendees will take home their finished print and carved linoleum block and basic materials for future printmaking.

The deadline for online registration is June 30. The cost for the workshop is $50.
