ALTOONA, Pa. — The spring 2025 issue of “Hard Freight,” Penn State Altoona's student literary arts magazine, is now available online.
The latest issue showcases 45 works of poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction and visual art by students. The faculty spotlight features a creative nonfiction essay by Todd Davis, professor of English and of environmental studies.
Altoona students interested in serving on the staff of “Hard Freight” may register for the course "ENGL 209: Journal Practicum," a one-credit experiential course that focuses on editing the magazine. Students may take the course up to eight times. Student editors select the works to publish, help to organize an open mic event and design the issue.
