Altoona’s Josselyn Nau repeats as AMCC Pitcher of the Week in softball

For the second week in a row, Penn State Altoona softball’s right-hander Josselyn Nau, of Bellefonte, was selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, as the league office released its weekly awards on Monday, March 17.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — For the second week in a row, Penn State Altoona softball’s right-hander Josselyn Nau, of Bellefonte, was selected the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, as the league office released its weekly awards on Monday, March 17.

In her final three starts in the North Myrtle Beach-area Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic last week, Nau went 3-0 with three complete games.

In Penn State Altoona’s victory over King’s College last on March 12, Nau pitched all seven innings and surrendered just three hits, one earned run, and one walk while striking out five batters. She followed that up by going all seven innings in the Lions’ win over William Peace University the next day, yielding three earned runs and recording a pair of strikeouts. Nau capped her week by tossing all five innings in a win over the Mississippi University for Women, scattering six hits and allowing one earned run and no walks to go along with two strikeouts.

On the week, Nau totaled 19 innings, struck out nine batters, and compiled a 1.84 earned run average. She currently leads all AMCC pitchers in wins (5), complete games (6), shutouts (2), innings pitched (37), and WHIP (1.14) while being second in strikeouts (23) and third in ERA (1.32).

Penn State Altoona softball is 7-5 overall this season, including going 7-3 in its 10-game stretch in the Fastpitch Dreams Classic. The Lions are scheduled to return to action on March 20 when the team has its home opener with a doubleheader against non-conference opponent Susquehanna University starting at 3 p.m.
