Penn State Altoona’s Eugene Heyman tabbed as AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Penn State Altoona student-athlete Eugene Heyman, of Boiling Springs, was selected as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Nov. 11, when the league office announced its weekly awards. Heyman had two individual first-place finishes and also was part of a relay first place in the Lions’ sweep of AMCC opponents Alfred State College and Pitt-Bradford.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Eugene Heyman, of Boiling Springs, was selected as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Nov. 11, when the league office announced its weekly awards.

Heyman had two individual first-place finishes and also was part of a relay first place in the Lions’ sweep of conference opponents Alfred State College and Pitt-Bradford during a road tri-meet last Saturday.

Heyman took first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.59, and he notched his second individual victory of the meet in the 200 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 2:08.50 to take first place. Additionally, he was part of the first place 400 Yard Medley Relay team that finished with a combined time of 3:49.42.

Penn State Altoona defeated Alfred State 169-104 in the meet, while also topping Pitt-Bradford by a score of 182-63.

This is Heyman’s first career AMCC Swimmer of the Week award.

The Penn State Altoona men’s swimming team is 4-0-1 in dual meets this season. The Lions return to action on Nov. 21 to compete in the three-day Malone University Invitational.
