Altoona’s Connor Ebersole named AMCC Defensive Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona middle blocker Connor Ebersole, of Altoona, was chosen as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s (AMCC) Defensive Player of the Week in men’s volleyball on Monday, March 18.

Ebersole racked up 14 total blocks during a 2-1 week of play by the Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball team last week.

In last Wednesday night’s 3-2 loss at AMCC opponent Geneva College, Ebersole recorded three block assists. He followed that up with one solo block and two block assists in Friday night’s 3-0 sweep over non-conference opponent Houghton University, then totaled eight block assists in the Lions’ 3-2 victory at AMCC foe Hilbert College on Saturday. Ebersole’s total of eight block assists tied for the second-most block assists in a match in team history.

On the week, Ebersole recorded 14 total blocks, averaging 1.17 blocks per set. He currently ranks seventh among all AMCC players this season in solo blocks (18) and block assists (31), while also being eighth in total blocks (49) and blocks per set (0.73).

Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball is 10-9 overall, including 2-2 in the AMCC. The Lions’ next match is at home on Wednesday, March 20, facing conference foe Saint Vincent College at 7 p.m.
