ALTOONA, Pa. — In celebration of Women’s History Month, Penn State University Libraries will host a virtual Wikipedia editathon focusing on Native American women activists and environmentalists. The editathon will run from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.

Penn State Altoona students are invited to gather in person in Room 202 of the Eiche Library for the event or join virtually via Zoom. All participants should register in order to receive the Zoom link, or register on Altoona Connect.

Wikipedia editathons are organized events held with the intention of increasing representation on Wikipedia of underrepresented identified groups and providing basic training to new editors. Participants will learn how to use University Libraries books and databases, as well as online open-access resources to improve or create articles.

First-time Wikipedia editors are welcome to join the virtual event regardless of technology knowledge or experience, and experienced editors will be on hand to answer questions and suggest articles to edit and references to use.
