Penn State Altoona students awarded WISE Women scholarships

Penn State Altoona’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations recently announced the 2023 recipients of the college’s alumni awards. A recent event celebrated C. David Kimmel, recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award; Dr. Richard D. Miller, recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award; and Richard Singer, recipient of the Honorary Alumni Award.

ALTOONA, Pa. — Two Penn State Altoona students were granted scholarships from WISE — Women Involved in Scholarship and Empowerment — Women of Blair County for the spring 2024 semester.

Pamela Lantz, a human development and family studies major, and Stevie Hoover, who is studying elementary and early childhood education, received a total of $6,000. The scholarships are awarded through the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation.

WISE Women awards scholarships to female Blair County residents 21 years or older who have overcome adversity or discrimination in their lives and who are pursuing post-secondary education.
