Altoona’s Madison Coleman chosen as AMCC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Penn State Altoona student-athlete Madison Coleman, of Altoona, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Jan. 15.

Coleman recorded two individual first-place finishes while being part of one relay first place to help the Lions defeat Division II opponent Lock Haven University 118-117 on the road this past Saturday, Jan. 13.

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Madison Coleman, of Altoona, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, Jan. 15.

Coleman recorded two individual first-place finishes while being part of one relay first place to help the Lions defeat Division II opponent Lock Haven University 118-117 on the road this past Saturday, Jan. 13.

Coleman picked up her first win of Saturday’s meet in the 200-yard freestyle, during which she finished in 2:10.10 to seal up first place. She later triumphed in the 100-yard freestyle after posting a time of 59.37. Coleman also was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that took first place with a combined time of 1:49.44, putting Penn State Altoona over the top for the meet victory.

This is Coleman’s second AMCC swimmer of the week award this season.

Penn State Altoona women’s swimming is 3-3 in dual meets this season. The Lions return to action this Saturday, Jan. 20, traveling to compete against AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford in a dual meet starting at noon.
