Penn State Altoona to hold First-Generation Celebration Day events

ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona will hold multiple events in recognition of First-Generation Celebration Day, held annually on Nov. 8. The celebration aims to raise awareness about the first-generation experience at Penn State and uplift the voices of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who were or will be the first in their immediate families to achieve a college degree.

    Livestream of the Penn State Student Success Center panel in the Fireside Lounge of the Slep Student Center. Snacks available.
  • Thursday, Nov. 10, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
    Tabling at various outside locations with giveaways
  • Thursday, Nov. 17, from noon to 1:15 p.m.
    First-generation gathering with Penn State alumni in the Pond View Lounge of the Slep Student Center. Soup and salad lunch and giveaways provided.

First-Generation Celebration Day events are provided by Student Affairs, Student Diversity and Inclusion Programming, and the Division of Undergraduate Studies at Penn State Altoona.
