Mallorie Smith named AMCC Offensive Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona second-year forward/midfielder Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, Pennsylvania/Bellefonte) was selected for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer on Monday.

Smith spearheaded the Lions’ offense during a pair of AMCC wins over La Roche University and Pitt-Bradford last week.

In Tuesday night’s home 3-0 shutout of La Roche, Smith scored a goal while finishing the game with two shots on goal. During Saturday afternoon’s 6-1 road win at Pitt-Bradford, she had a season-best two goals and two assists while putting three shots on goal.

On the week, Smith totaled three goals and two assists for eight points, and she attempted five shots, putting all of them on goal. The sophomore currently leads the AMCC in assists (7), and she is also fourth in points (23) and sixth in goals scored (8). Her total of 14 points against AMCC teams ranks first in the conference.

This is Smith’s first career AMCC Player of the Week award.

Penn State Altoona travels to face AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg for its next game this Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
