ALTOONA, Pa. — The Penn State Altoona Council on Diversity and Inclusion invites students, faculty and staff to come together for two discussions about current social issues in a safe, inclusive environment.
Staff members from Counseling and Psychological Services will be at both events to offer support if needed.
An open-discussion webinar will be held at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, to share experiences about election issues, racial concerns, cultural challenges, and more. Participants are welcome to share, or to listen in.
A town hall will be held at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, titled "What Now? Next Steps," featuring a panel of several Altoona campus faculty members who will share their expertise and experiences. Participants can listen in, ask questions and/or join in the discussion. Panelists include Jared Frederick, instructor in history; Kim S. Ménard, associate professor of criminal justice and women's, gender, and sexuality studies; Karyn McKinney-Marvasti, associate professor of sociology and women's, gender, and sexuality studies; and Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, professor of creative writing and African literature.
