NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Three Penn State Altoona baseball players have been voted to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference team, which the league announced on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Selected to the first team of the All-Conference squad was junior outfielder George Stiuso (Milford, NJ/Gill St. Bernard’s). Junior outfielder Chase Clouser (Dublin, OH/Dublin Jerome) was a second team All-AMCC pick, and junior first baseman Catcher Cumming (Altoona, PA/Altoona) took third team All-Conference honors.

Stiuso enjoyed a strong junior campaign for the Lions, including being one of the top players in the conference at getting on base. In the AMCC this season, he ranked second in walks (36) and on-base percentage (.500), fifth in times hit by pitch (10), ninth in runs batted in (37), 10th in home runs (5) and slugging percentage (.550), 11th in stolen bases (10), 14th in doubles (10), 23rd in total bases (61), 26th in runs scored (28) and triples (1), 34th in batting average (.306), and 41st in hits (34). Stiuso’s 36 walks drawn this season set a new Penn State Altoona baseball single season record.

This is Stiuso’s first career appearance on an AMCC All-Conference team.

Clouser posted a solid junior season for the Lions, after heading into the year as one of his team’s two “Players to Watch” in the conference preseason poll. In the AMCC, he ranked sixth in home runs (6) and RBI (39), 11th in walks (22) and stolen bases (10), 15th in runs scored (34), 17th in total bases (69), 19th in slugging percentage (.519), 22nd in hits (42), 26th in triples (1), 27th in on-base percentage (.424), 31st in batting average (.316), and 36th in doubles (7).

This is Clouser’s first time in his collegiate career being selected to an All-AMCC team.

Cumming put up great numbers for the Lions as a junior, in his second season with the squad. In the AMCC, he ranked sixth in home runs (6) and RBI (39), 11th in walks (22), 12th in slugging percentage (.541), 13th in runs scored (35) and total bases (73), 14th in doubles (10), 18th in times hit by pitch (5), 20th in hits (43), 26th in triples (1), 27th in stolen bases (7), 29th in batting average (.319), and 32nd in on-base percentage (.419). Cumming also finished with the 19th-best fielding percentage in the conference (.986).

On April 7, Cumming set the Lions’ team record for the most RBI in a doubleheader when he drove in 12 runs during a two-game sweep of Hilbert College. He also tied the team’s single game record that day with eight RBI in game one of the twinbill.

Cumming was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week one time during the season, and he was also named the AMCC’s Player of the Week one time.

Penn State Altoona baseball has a 28-16 overall record, including a 12-6 mark in the AMCC. The Lions placed third in the conference’s regular season standings, then took runner-up status in the AMCC Tournament following a loss to La Roche University in the championship game.

Penn State Altoona baseball’s season continues this Wednesday, May 15, when the Lions will travel to Chambersburg, Pa. to take on Wilson College in a first round Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship Tournament game.
