Joanne Peca, Penn State Altoona's chief information officer, was recognized by the Pittsburgh Technology Council as the 2019 non-profit sector CIO of the Year.

The Council recognizes top chief information officers and chief information security officers in the southwest Pennsylvania region annually. This year's award recipients were determined by a group of their peers throughout the region. Scores were determined based on technical depth, accomplishments in their current roles, strategic vision, commitment to the executive team, partnership with service providers in the community, and participation in outside networks.
