As you embark upon this year filled with exciting new opportunities and challenges, please know that there are many dedicated people at Penn State Altoona willing to help and support you. You will find a comprehensive array of programs and services to make your experience with us a rewarding one. We take our role of educating students through an appropriate balance of challenge and support very seriously.
You will find that the environment at Penn State Altoona offers you many exciting and rewarding opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. You will find an outstanding faculty who will challenge and prepare you well for your chosen career. Please take the time to develop a relationship with your faculty and academic advisers. Please take advantage of offered office hours and special class initiatives. These individuals and opportunities will be invaluable resources for your development as a student at the College.
In addition to an excellent academic environment, you will find that Penn State Altoona is alive seven days a week with a broad range of student activities and programs. We have over sixty student clubs and organizations, a cultural and performing arts series, a Distinguished Speaker Series, as well as art exhibits, movies, and theatre. There are live entertainment events including concerts, late-night programs, and comedy clubs. There is a student choir, a jazz band, and dance teams. Penn State Altoona also supports a literary magazine, Hard Freight, along with the Collegiate Review, our student newspaper. You may decide to become involved in student government or one of the other student leadership positions offered at the college. If sports are where you find excitement, you can participate in intramural and recreation sports programming, club sports, or participate in one of our NCAA Division III varsity sports.
