Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award

Award Information

Purpose

This award recognizes students from across the University whose outstanding qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship have been directed toward student programs and services. All Penn State Altoona students of sophomore standing and above are eligible. Scholarship is a primary criterion for selection, in tandem with a record of outstanding service to the campus. To nominate someone for this award, the nominator and nominee must complete the form on this page.  

Funding of the Award

Funds have been contributed by Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker.

Eligibility

Consideration of this award shall be given to all students enrolled at the Commonwealth Locations who are completing two full years of undergraduate study in either an associated degree or baccalaureate degree program and who during this period of enrollment has consistently demonstrated those qualities which the Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award honors.

Nature of the Award

The recipient of this award at each campus shall have their name suitably engraved on a plaque, which shall be permanently displayed at the campus. In addition, each recipient will receive a certificate and an appropriate plaque or medallion.

Nomination Supplements

Provide a list of campus clubs or organizations in which the nominee holds or has held active membership, including dates of involvement. Please note any leadership positions held within those organizations.
Provide a list of all service or community organizations which the nominee holds or has held active membership. Please indicate the number of years the nominee has been involved with each organization as well as any offices held.
Provide comments on other noteworthy personal contributions of time, energy, and/or initiative that the nominee made for the general good of fellow students and the campus and community relating only to the period of time the nominee has been enrolled as a student of the University.

Nomination Letters

The application requires the submission of three nomination letters (no more than one page each) from the following: One letter from the student’s academic adviser or a faculty member in their major that addresses your academic career; one letter from a leadership/service connection (club/organization, service) that can speak to your contributions to the campus or general community; And one letter of your choice speaking to your character from a fellow students, work peer, or family member.
