Career Services has a Career Closet that provides Penn State Altoona students with professional attire completely free of charge. Many students choose to borrow clothing to wear for interviews, career fairs, class presentations, and other professional events.
How it Works
Currently enrolled students are encouraged to schedule an appointment to visit the Career Closet. During the appointment, students can try on different items to determine what will work best for their needs. Students can borrow the clothes for their event and then return the items to Career Services. Those items will be dry-cleaned and returned to the closet for future use.

Secondhand Lion
Secondhand Lion, located in W116 Smith Building, is an on-campus thrift shop where all items are free for students. It was born from a surplus of donations to the Career Closet that just didn’t fit the business professional profile and has grown to a full-service supply of casual clothing, shoes and accessories, Career Closet overstock, bedding, towels, and decor. Students never know what they might find, and stock is always changing. Contact Penny Harding at [email protected] to schedule a time to visit.
Donations
Career Services accepts donations on a rolling basis for both the Career Closet (professional) and Secondhand Lion (casual). Donations can be dropped off in W115 Smith Building during normal office hours (8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday). Please ensure that the items to be donated are clean and in good condition (no holes, tears, or extreme wear).
