Altoona to host Q&A session with 'Love and Whiskey' playwright

Penn State Altoona will host playwright Allyson Currin at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Following a performance of her play "Love and Whiskey," Currin will offer a question and answer session about her play.

The Penn State men’s basketball program will bring the Blue-White Hoops Showcase back to Altoona on Oct. 15. The scrimmage begins at noon, followed by a clinic for kids 12 and under, at the Altoona Area High School Fieldhouse.

Sherrill's latest book reviewed in The New York Times

Steve Sherrill's latest book, "The Minotaur Takes His Own Sweet Time," was recently reviewed in The New York Times. The book is a sequel to Sherrill's first novel, "The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break." Sherrill, associate professor of English and integrative arts at Penn State Altoona.

Penn State Altoona to present the play 'Love and Whiskey' Oct. 27-29

Penn State Altoona's fall theatre performance, "Love and Whiskey," will take place Oct. 27-29 in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The play is set in North Carolina during the Great Depression and revolves around Lucy Mae, a woman in her 30s striving to become the woman she wants to be. Tickets are $5 for Penn State Altoona students and $7 for general admission.

The Sphinx Virtuosi to perform as part of Altoona's Classical Music Project

The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State is partnering with Penn State Altoona to present two free public programs featuring the music ensemble the Sphinx Virtuosi on Sept. 28. Artists from the group will participate in a forum held in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 3 p.m. A concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Paul K. and Margery Wolf Kuhn Theatre.
