Visitor Parking

Visitor and Public Parking is available curbside or in designated public parking lots by permit only.

Student Parking

Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Students utilizing the Altoona Parking Authority parking lots – located in downtown Altoona – must purchase and display a parking permit issued by Penn State Altoona.

Parking Locations:

  • Altoona Transportation Center Parking Garage
    Located across from the center at the corner of 11th Avenue and 13th Street (NOT the parking garage at the corner of 12th Avenue and 13th Street)
  • Red Lot
    Located across 12th Avenue from the Aaron, Devorris Downtown Center, and the Penn Building, behind the Yellow Lot.

All students with a valid Penn State Altoona Student Parking Permit will be permitted to park in these lots. Parking rules and ticketing will be enforced by the Altoona Parking Authority.

Student parking is permitted in all lots, Monday-Friday, after 5:00 p.m. and anytime on weekends.

Transportation

Amtran provides bus service between our Ivyside and downtown locations throughout the day and evening hours. To find out more, visit the Amtran site.

Altoona Transporation Center

Located at 1231 11th Avenue, the Altoona Transportation Center provides local bus, intercity bus, and rail services.

The primary user of the Altoona Transportation Center, almost all regular Amtran bus routes and selected "Tripper" routes stop at the center.

Greyhound connects Altoona via one-seat rides to cities such as State College, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and New York to the east and Johnstown and Pittsburgh to the west. Greyhound also links Altoona with many other cities and towns beyond those listed via transfers.

The Altoona Transportation Center is also served by Amtrak Pennsylvanian trains.
