Where Candidates Should Assemble
Candidates for all degrees should report to the Auxiliary Gym of the Adler Athletic Complex no later than 10:00 a.m.
Candidates for degrees should have parents or guests take any valuables—purses, cameras, etc.—before moving to the assembly area.
Latecomer Guest Seating
Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the commencement procession begins as the parking lots become congested. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the ushers.
Caps and Gowns
Students participating in the academic procession and ceremony must wear caps and gowns. Tips on what looks best with academic regalia:
- For men: dark trousers, white shirt, tie, dark shoes
- For women: a dress or skirt that does not hang below the robe or dark pants, dress shoes
Caps and gowns may be purchased at the Penn State Bookstore on campus. For more information, call 814-949-5121.
Diplomas will not be issued at the commencement ceremony. All candidates for graduation received verification letters from the University Registrar showing how their names will appear on their diplomas. If the name is incorrect, students should file a request for a name change immediately. Students should expect to have their diplomas mailed to them in late May for spring commencements and in late January for fall commencements.
#PSUgrad — Share the experience!
Soon-to-be graduates and families of soon-to-be graduates: Tell the world about your tremendous accomplishments. Share your photos and your thoughts and include the #PSUgrad hashtag on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and Google+.
To commemorate this milestone occasion, a professional photo will be taken of each graduate being congratulated by the chancellor. No pre-orders will be taken. Rather, photos can be viewed and ordered after commencement by visiting the Film Center's Web site.
In order to avoid congestion and to maintain decorum during the ceremony, we ask that family and friends refrain from approaching the platform when taking pictures or using a video camera.
