ALTOONA, Pa. — Cameron Barnett will give a reading of his works at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts on the Penn State Altoona campus.
Barnett is the author of “The Drowning Boy's Guide to Water,” winner of the 2017 Rising Writer Contest, and a finalist for an NAACP Image Award. He also ison Thursday, Feb. 16, on Thursday, Feb. 16, the winner of the 2019 Carol R. Brown Creative Achievement Award for Emerging Artist. Barnett is a middle school language arts teacher at Falk Laboratory School and is currently the Emerging Black Writer in Residence at Chatham University. His work explores the complexity of race and the body for Black people in today’s America.
