Brian Black was recently an invited speaker in classes at Franklin and Marshall College, in which his book Petrolia was being used.
He also spoke at Carnegie Mellon University as part of its Energy Week event which brings together leaders from the energy industry and politics with scholars and writers on the topic. Specifically, Black spoke in the session "Contesting Energy: Labor, Culture and Politics Symposium Panel: Resource Histories: The Temporality of Energy Landscapes," which addressed questions in hopes of moving toward a more thorough understanding of how and why we construct our energy narratives.
