Penn State Altoona's Omega Delta Sigma Veterans Fraternity will host PTSD Night March 14, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the Slept Student Center.
This event will bring about awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder, how and where to get help, and how to recognize symptoms in others.
The keynote speaker is poet and memoirist Brian Turner.
Turner served seven years in the U.S. Army. He is the author of the memoir My Life as a Foreign Country and two poetry collections, Phantom Noise and Here, Bullet which won the 2005 Beatrice Hawley Award, the New York Times “Editor’s Choice” selection, the 2006 PEN Center USA “Best in the West” award. He is the editor of The Kiss, a diverse anthology of essays, stories, poems, and graphic memoirs. Turner’s work has been published in National Geographic, The New York Times, Poetry Daily, and Harper’s Magazine.
This event is supported by the Student Government Association, the Psychology Club, and the Student Initiated Fee. It is free and open to the community.
