Six Altoona tennis student-athletes recognized for academic achievement

Four members of the Penn State Altoona tennis teams were recognized for their success in the classroom on Tuesday, May 14, being named to the College Sports Communicators’ NCAA Division III Academic All-District teams.

From the Penn State Altoona women’s tennis team, Isabella Rhoades, of Tyrone, Lauren Stich, of Ellwood City, and Rachel Stricek, of Tyrone, earned spots on the CSC’s DIII Academic All-District team. On the men’s side, Casey Hess, of Annville, took a spot on the CSC DIII Academic All-District squad.

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Atlantic East Conference announced its 2023-24 Academic All-Conference team on Tuesday, June 18, including six student-athletes from the Penn State Altoona men’s tennis team.

To earn a spot on the Atlantic East’s Academic All-Conference team, student-athletes must be full-time students and possess grade-point averages of 3.2 or better through the fall and spring semesters.

Penn State Altoona is an affiliate member of the Atlantic East in the sport of men’s tennis, through the AEC’s partnership with the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference that began in the 2023-24 season.

The six Penn State Altoona men’s tennis student-athletes who earned Academic All-Conference status from the Atlantic East are:

  • Nick Beard, of Manns Choice
  • Kadyn Carey, of Altoona
  • Casey Hess, of Annville
  • Emmett Hibbs, of Richfield
  • Jackson Newell, of Leechburg
  • Parth Raval, of Mumbai, India
