Seven students from the Integrated Social Sciences Research Lab (ISSRL) at Penn State Altoona recently worked with faculty from the Douglas W. Pollock Center at Penn State Harrisburg and representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police, Penn State Health, and the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute to provide a free crisis management training workshop to first responders and community members in the Dauphin County region.

Penn State Altoona’s men’s golf team wins fourth straight conference title

For the fourth year in a row, the Penn State Altoona men’s golf team is the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion.The Lions shot 300 in the Tuesday, Oct. 15, round of the conference championship tournament at Butler Country Club, finishing with a two-day total of 612 to come in first place out of eight teams by a 27-shot margin.

Penn State Altoona English faculty members Todd Davis and Erin Murphy will read from their work at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. The reading will kick off the fall Hard Freight Café open mic event.

Davis, professor of English and environmental studies, will read from his eighth full-length collection of poetry, “Ditch Memory: New & Selected Poems.” Murphy, professor of English, will read from her ninth poetry collection, “Fluent in Blue.”
