The program in World Languages at Penn State Altoona offers courses in French, German, and Spanish. World language faculty also regularly teach courses in culture, literature, film, women’s studies, and philosophy.
The World Language program supports the minor in Global Language and Culture, an interdisciplinary student-designed minor combining language study, study abroad, and additional courses focused on a theme of the student’s choice.
Proficiency in a second (or third!) language is a valuable skill in today’s global world. Language learning provides a window into other cultures, and complements many courses of study from history to business, and from literature to engineering.
