Founded in 1998 by Artistic Director KT Huckabee, the central artistic mission of Allied Motion Dance Company was collaborative, building a repertory developed around collaboration with composers, musicians, poets, visual artists, and theatre artists. From 1998 to 2008, the company developed a deep repertory of dances, with themes spanning from comic to serious, inspired by history, personal experiences, imagery, fantastical thoughts and hopes.
In the decade after Allied Motion went on hiatus, Huckabee set her repertory on other companies, including Ivyside Dance Ensemble, the student company of Penn State Altoona. In 2018, while working for IDE KT brought a diverse cast of alumni and current students together for “Skyline,” a piece exploring disintegration and rebirth. This experience sparked her interest in reforming Allied Motion with a new generation of dancers and a broader, more community focused mission.
