Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) is the largest and most prestigious education honor society dedicated to fostering excellence in education and promoting fellowship among leaders dedicated to teaching. With more than 550 active chapters throughout the world, Kappa Delta Pi is dedicated to the ideals of fidelity to humanity, service, science, and toil.
Student members are carefully selected based on stringent expectations, high academic accomplishments, and promising leadership examples as prescribed in the KDP bylaws. To be eligible for the Penn State Altoona Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter, students must be enrolled full-time in an education program or pre-major, must have completed at least 18 college credits, with a GPA of 3.35 or higher, and have taken or are currently taking at least six education-related credits. Typically, students are initiated as sophomores or above in class standing.
Each year, only the top students will be inducted into the honor society. Because initiation into the society typically takes place in March, selection for initiation is made based on the student's last transcript in December. Students planning to transfer to the University Park campus may still be inducted at Penn State Altoona as there is no KDP chapter established at University Park.
